Yeah, today (Saturday) our big move (with shipping our furniture) was actually planned, an appointment we set at the transportation office of the army a month ago.
But after a call on Thursday they told us, the moving people would already come on Friday.
Very last minute... Cause Id like to be there, when strangers dig through my stuff, I took a day off which means I got missing hours at work, now...
All right. They said they would come from 8 on... We got up early, Joe even had to go to the barracks for formation and come back. When he came back, we waited for the doorbell to ring.
NO! The phone rang instead: The transportaion office!
"We are sorry, but theres no moving company available, today."
Of course not, when you start lookin for it at the day of the move!!!
Well, they called us again later and told us that they couldn´t find a moving company before June 6th for the household stuff and June 15th for our furniture.
Isn´t that great? Our appartment looks like shit, right now: Empty rooms and walls and my living-room is filled with all kinds of stuff that doesn´t belong there...
In addition to this theres also the fact that the waiting time (in USA) for our furniture just gets longer and we´ll probably get our furniture in September (if at all).
So much about american reliability...

Tja, heute (Samstag) sollte ja eigentlich unser großer Umzug (mit Verschiffen unserer Möbel) sein, ein Termin, den wir schon vor einem Monat ausgemacht haben mit dem Transportation Office der Army.
Jedoch haben wir nach einem Anruf am Donnerstag gesagt bekommen, die würden schon am Freitag kommen. Super kurzfristig... Da ich gern dabei sein würde, wenn sich fremde Leute durch meine Sachen wühlen, bin ich auf der Arbeit ins Minus gegangen, um den Tag frei zu kriegen...
Gesagt, getan. Es hieß ab 8 würden die kommen... Wir früh aufgestanden, Joe musste sogar extra nochmal in seine Kaserne zur Formation fahren und dann wiederkommen. Als er wieder kam, haben wir dann gewartet, dass es endlich an der Tür klingelt.
NEIN! Stattdessen klingelt das Handy: Das Transportation Office!
"Ja, es tut uns sehr leid, aber leider ist heute keine Umzugsfirma verfügbar...."
Natürlich nicht, wenn man erst an dem Tag, an dem der Umzug sein soll, nach einer sucht!!!
Nun ja, die riefen uns dann später nochmal an und sagten, dass sie keine Umzugsfirma vorm 6.6. (für den Kleinkram und Haushaltswaren) und am 15.6. (für unsere Möbel) finden konnten.
Ist das nicht klasse? Unsere Wohnung sieht beschissen aus: Leere Räume und Wände und mein Wohnzimmer ist voll mit Sachen die da eigentlich nicht hingehören...
Hinzu kommt noch, dass sich die Wartezeit für unsere Möbel noch mehr verlängert und wir dann wohl unsere Möbel erst im September (wenn überhaupt) kriegen werden.
Soviel zum Thema amerikanische Verlässlichkeit...
